Transformed

I want to “behold” Jesus.  To behold isn’t just a glance.  It’s carefully examining, studying, and looking closely at the details.  As I behold Him with unveiled face as in a mirror, I become more like Him—less selfish and more loving for example.  I walk in His wisdom instead of trying to live by my own wits.  I make choices according to the Spirit and don’t do what my flesh wants.  That will produce fruits of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, goodness, and self-control. (Galatians 5:16-22) Then I can begin to throw aside anger, bitterness, envy, and the like, which tend to tangle themselves around my soul.

Dear Father, please forgive me for “beholding” other people, problems, self, or sins instead of beholding Jesus.  Please cleanse me from all unrighteousness and renew my mind.  Because You give me the grace and power, I can and will look at Christ with a pure, focused eye and become more like Him.  Amen.

2 Corinthians 3:18—“But we all, with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.” (New American Standard Bible)

Today I give You afresh my life,

A living sacrifice

To worship and please You.

That’s what I want to do—

To please You.

I take up my cross, follow You each day,

To walk the narrow way,

And leave the past behind.

You transform my mind.

Let me hear Your command

And obey.

Let me not be wise in my own eyes,

For that is sin in disguise.

Let me be transformed, for I am reborn.

Now let my mind to God’s Word conform.
