In John 20:26-28, Jesus came to His disciples when Thomas wasn’t with them. He showed them His crucifixion wounds, and they believed and told Thomas about it. Thomas said he would have to see the wounds himself before he could believe.
John 20:27 tells me that Jesus heard what Thomas said and cared about him personally because it says (in the New King James), “Then He said to Thomas, ‘Reach your finger here and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into my side….’” This time, Thomas was with the others, and Jesus spoke specifically to him. Then Thomas believed.
Jesus “met Thomas where he was,” and helped him come to belief. God meets us where we are also and encourages our faith if we will look to Him.
