Plant in Good Soil

James 1:21—“So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the message God has planted in your hearts, for it is strong enough to save your souls.” New Living Translation

Holy Spirit, please change my heart and work in it so I become “good soil” as in the parable of the sower (Matthew 13:3-8). The seed sown in good soil represents those who truly hear and understand God’s Word and do what it says so it produces fruit. (See Matthew 13:23 and James 1:22.)

Then, Spirit of the living God, please plant Jesus’ words (which are spirit and life) in my heart so they can grow and produce much fruit. Yes, develop in me fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Do it to bring glory and honor to our Lord. As this fruit is manifested, it will result in the transformation of my mind, will, and emotions so I’m more and more like Jesus. (See John 6:63 and Galatians 5:23)

So Spirit of the triune God who is God alone, I yield myself to You. Amen.

  1. Hi Tricia, yes so very True, we ask and we receive and as we choose to walk in the fruit of the Spirit we will be empowered to do so.

    if God puts before us a need like a starving child or someone who is hurting, we can choose to ignore them or show kindness God will never go against our free will, He will never force us to obey Him , He wants us to do so because we Love Him and others.

    So we do choose to help them and show kindness then this fruit buds and blossoms, giving a beautiful fragrance that blocks out offensive odours and this is the same with the rest of the fruit.

    Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

    Galatians 24 -26 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. if we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

    Romans 2:7-9 To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life: But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;

    Christian Love from both of us Ron and Anne.
