Refuge in the Storm

I don’t like going through difficulties, but I suppose I couldn’t know God as my refuge if I never went through a storm. Jesus, You are my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust (Psalm 91:12). Today I will trust You, God, as my refuge.

Psalm 139:9-10 “If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, Your right hand will hold me fast.”
Isaiah 41:10 “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (Both verses NIV)
No matter where we are, God will guide us and hold onto us. He will strengthen and help us and hold us up. So why do I whine, complain, or try to run from the troubles God allows for me? Do I imagine that God is going to train me and use me without getting me out of my comfort zone? Or do I cling to unbelief so that these sure promises become just words and wishful thinking in my life? Sadly, sometimes I do. These foolish thoughts, bad attitudes, and lack of faith don’t please God, nor do they bring Him glory. So I repent. I turn from these old ways and choose to believe the truth of God’s Word.
Gracious Father, Your ways really are better than mine. Mighty Holy Spirit, please help me change. Amen.

My blog friend Tricia wrote a great blog today and I wanted to share it. God bless you!

  2. Yes True Tricia we do reap the evil we sow it’s God’s Discipline so we like the Prodigal Son will come to our senses and Repent but of course Accidents happen too and life brings problems as Jesus told us it would. But as you shared also Tricia we don’t walk alone and God Protects our Soul and gives us His Strength to endure. We may not be Happy Clappy when Hardship comes but we can Rejoice in who we are in Christ Jesus regardless of what Life brings.

Lamentations 3: 33 For God doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the Children of Men.

Isaiah 43:1-3….. Fear not for I have redeemed thee I have called thee by thy name thou art mine. When thou passest through the waters I will be with thee and through the rivers they shall not overflow thee, when thou walkest through the fire thou shalt not be burned neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour….. (KJV)

Jeremiah 29 :11-12 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Satan also puts us to the test seeking to get us to follow him, it is not our Abba Father who plans hardship for us as we wouldn’t for those we Love, He molds and shapes us through the Fruit of The Spirit by giving us opportunity’s to walk in them and as we choose to do so we are empowered so we can and this puts our Carnal Flesh to death as we work out our Salvation but not meaning Work for it and so we aim to be Perfected in God’s Love and than we Walk as Jesus did on Earth without Sin..

1 John 4:17-19 Herein is our Love made Perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as He is, so are we in this World. There is no fear in Love but Perfect Love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in Love. We Love Him, because He first Loved us.

    • I always like to include verse 32 with Lamentations 3:33:
Lam 3:32-33 32 “Though He causes grief, Yet He will show compassion According to the multitude of His mercies. 33 For He does not afflict willingly, Nor grieve the children of men.” (NKJV)

      • Mostly Tricia, I seek to focus on the Positive Love of God such as His Mercy and Compassion and also as confirmed in ( Philippians4:8-9) on all that is good too. But yes although our Abba Father does not willingly afflict us He does Discipline us because He Loves us and wants us to come to our Senses and Repent and He does this by letting us reap the evil we sow and it is indeed not pleasant when we disobey Him, it does cause grief.

But it’s never His choice for us to suffer and for those who are not His it will be for Eternity which is always their choice because it’s also not His will anyone Perishes and are Eternally Separated from Him in the Lake of Fire without any Hope but He knows those who will be and those like us who are His Redeemed Children. But it’s our choice too to willingly Love and obey our Abba Father He does not want Puppets.
